Following the persistent strike action in the country’s health sector, the Medical Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) have called on the Federal government to discharge the Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole off his duty.
The General Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals, Comrade Obisesan Oluwatuyi, made the call on Wednesday in Gombe, after a meeting with members of the association.
He alleged that the minister lacks the capacity to handle the affairs of the ministry, hence his inability to proffer a lasting solution to the crisis in the health sector.
Comrade Oluwatuyi noted that Professor Adewole who happens to be a Medical Practitioner is prompting the strike action, saying “he operates with sentiment and his focus is to favour Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) than any other health union.”
He said they would continue with the strike until their demands are met by the federal government.
Oluwatuyi also appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene and solve the strike, stressing that patients in hospitals have suffered set back due to the strike action.
