Jose Mourinho is ready to sell Marcos Rojo to finance Manchester United’s record-breaking move for Leicester City and England defender Harry Maguire.
Maguire, 25, has emerged as one of United’s top targets this summer but the Foxes are reluctant to sell and will want more than the £75m Liverpool spent on Virgil van Dijk last summer.
Mourinho is determined to bring Maguire to Old Trafford, however, and the Daily Express say he is prepared to offload Rojo to help finance the potentially world-record deal.
Argentine Rojo has been at United for four years but has failed to win over Mourinho and will look to revive his career at Goodison Park with Everton.
Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld and the Barcelona defender Yerry Mina have also emerged as targets for the Red Devils, with just four days remaining of the summer transfer window.
But it is claimed Maguire remains Mourinho’s priority target, after he starred in England’s run to the World Cup semi-finals in Russia.
Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown, who won five Premier League titles at the Theatre of Dreams, urged Mourinho to complete a deal for Maguire last week.
